-
A dialog opens with pre-filled values:
- Name
- Description
-
Modify the values as needed
-
Click Save to update or Update Policies to edit policies
Update Options
- Save – Updates only the name and description

- Editing basic profile information doesn't affect devices already using the profile.
Cloning a Profile
Duplicate an existing profile to create variations quickly.
Steps to Clone
-
Click the Clone button for the profile you want to duplicate
-
A confirmation dialog opens
-
Enter the following information:
- Profile Name (minimum 3 characters)
- Description (minimum 5 characters)

After Cloning
- A success message appears upon successful cloning
- You are automatically redirected to the Edit Profile Policies page
- The cloned profile includes all policies and restrictions from the original
- If cloning fails, an error message is displayed
- Cloning is useful for creating variations of existing profiles without starting from scratch. For example, create a "Manager" profile by cloning the "Employee" profile and adjusting specific policies.
Publishing a Profile
Change a profile's status to make it active and available for device assignment.
Steps to Publish
- Locate the unpublished profile (orange status icon)
- Click the Status Icon
- A dialog appears with options:
- Cancel – Closes the dialog without changes
- Publish Profile – Makes the profile active
Publishing Results
- Success: The status icon changes to Published (green) and a success message appears
- Failure: An error message is displayed with details
- Once a profile is published and assigned to devices, certain modifications may require republishing and can affect all devices using that profile.
Deleting a Profile
Remove profiles that are no longer needed.
Deleting a Profile with No Devices
If the profile has zero associated devices:
- The Delete button is enabled
- Click the Delete button
- A confirmation dialog appears
- Confirm the deletion
- The profile is removed from the table
- A success message is displayed
Cannot Delete Profiles with Devices
If the profile has associated devices:
- The Delete button is disabled
- Attempting to delete triggers an error message
- You must first unassign all devices from the profile
Before Deleting:
- Ensure no devices are using the profile (Device Count = 0)
- Consider archiving important profiles instead of deleting
- Deletion cannot be undone
Best Practices
Profile Organization
- Use clear, descriptive names that indicate the profile's purpose
- Include department or role information in the name (e.g., "Sales Team - Android", "Executive - High Security")
- Keep descriptions detailed and up-to-date
Version Control
- Document changes when modifying profiles
- Test profile changes on a small group before wide deployment
- Use cloning to create test versions of production profiles
Lifecycle Management
- Regularly review and update profiles
- Remove or archive unused profiles
- Keep track of which profiles are assigned to which device groups
