Managing Web Applications

Learn how to add, edit, and remove web applications in CDOT MDM.

Adding a Web Application​

Create new web applications to provide quick access to web services.

Required Information​

  • Web Application Name – Minimum 3 characters
  • Icon – PNG image representing the application
  • Icon Name – Name associated with the icon
  • Page URL – Web address of the application

Validation Rules​

  • All fields must be completed (minimum 3 characters each)
  • Only PNG image formats accepted
  • Icon size must not exceed 10KB
  • URL must be valid and accessible

Add Process​

  1. Click Add Web Application button
  2. Fill in all required fields
  3. Upload icon (PNG, max 10KB)
  4. Enter the page URL
  5. Click Add Web Application to submit
  6. Success message appears or error if validation fails
  7. Click Cancel to close without saving

Icon Requirements:

  • Format: PNG only
  • Maximum size: 10KB
  • Recommended dimensions: 192x192 pixels

Editing a Web Application​

Modify existing web application details.

Edit Steps​

  1. Click Edit button for the web application
  2. Dialog opens with pre-filled details
  3. Modify values as needed
  4. Save Changes button becomes enabled
  5. Click Save Changes to update
  6. Success message on validation success
  7. Error message if validation fails
  8. Click Cancel to close without saving

Editable Fields​

  • Web Application Name
  • Icon
  • Icon Name
  • Page URL

Deleting a Web Application​

Remove web applications that are no longer needed.

Delete Steps​

  1. Click Delete button for the web application

  2. Confirmation dialog displays application name

  3. Options:

    • Cancel – Closes dialog without changes
    • Delete – Permanently removes application

  4. Success or error message appears

  • Deleting a web application removes it from all assigned profiles and devices.

Design and Usability​

  • Use clear, recognizable icons
  • Choose descriptive names users will understand
  • Ensure URLs are properly formatted
  • Test accessibility before deployment

Management​

  • Verify URLs are accessible and correct
  • Keep icon file sizes small for faster loading
  • Regularly review and update web apps
  • Remove obsolete or broken links promptly

Security​

  • Use HTTPS URLs whenever possible
  • Verify destination sites are secure
  • Test links on devices before wide deployment
  • Monitor for URL changes or site deprecation
